What MinkLauncher does

MinkLauncher is an Android home-screen launcher and local productivity tool. Depending on the features you enable, it can open apps and web pages, search approved local files, display Android widgets, organize active conversation notifications, control active media sessions, show user-selected media, prepare or send communications, place confirmed calls, create local to-dos and calculations, display a user-created Virtual Contact Card, perform Android's lock-screen action, summarize usage activity, and present apps Android exposes from Work or Private Space profiles.

MinkLauncher is not a backup service, cloud-storage provider, messaging carrier, emergency service, security product, identity provider, parental-control product, private-profile provider, or guaranteed data-recovery tool.

Your device, data, and backups

You are responsible for maintaining current backups of files, contacts, messages, calendars, to-dos, launcher settings, widget data, and other information that matters to you. Search indexes, thumbnails, shortcuts, widget placements, notification views, and selected-folder references are conveniences only; they are not copies or backups of the underlying data. Portable exports are readable JSON and may contain Virtual Contact Card details. Review and protect an export before storing or sharing it. Device-bound items such as permissions, widgets, URI grants, the card photo, media state, and Work or Privacy Space state are not portable.

Android, device manufacturers, storage providers, widget providers, messaging apps, app updates, permission changes, account synchronization, clearing app storage, uninstalling the app, or moving, renaming, or deleting files may change or remove data and may break shortcuts, widgets, searches, media selections, bubbles, or saved configuration. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Katoa Apps is not responsible for loss, corruption, deletion, disclosure, or inability to recover device data or app configuration resulting from your use of, inability to use, or changes to MinkLauncher or third-party software.

Calls, messages, and other actions

Review the selected contact, destination, message, phone number, file, application, and action before confirming. Carrier, messaging, calling, data, subscription, or roaming charges may apply. Delivery, identity, recipient selection, RCS or SMS behavior, call routing, and inline replies are controlled in whole or in part by Android, your carrier, and the receiving application or service.

MinkLauncher must not be relied on for emergency communications. Use your device's normal emergency calling features and follow local emergency-service instructions.

A Virtual Contact Card and its QR contain the fields and links you select. Anyone who can scan, photograph, receive, or copy the QR may retain and redistribute those details. You are responsible for including only information you are authorized and willing to share.

MinkSpace media and controls

Media Lab references files selected through Android rather than copying them. Moving or deleting an original file, revoking its grant, changing its provider, or uninstalling its source may make it unavailable. Opening media hands it to another installed app under that app's terms.

The Music mini-app depends on Android's active media-session APIs and the controls advertised by the current provider. Artwork, metadata, position, seeking, previous/next, and shuffle may be absent, delayed, or interpreted differently. MinkLauncher does not promise that a command will be accepted or that displayed media state is complete.

App Bubbles beta

App Bubbles is experimental. Android, the device manufacturer, and the target app decide whether a selected personal app can appear in a notification bubble. An incompatible app may open full screen, close, display incorrectly, or fail to open. MinkLauncher cannot guarantee containment, resizing, continuity, or compatibility. Work-profile apps and developer-published shortcuts may continue to open normally.

Work Apps and Privacy Space

Work profiles, Android Private Space, Secure Folder, Moto Secure, and other manufacturer private areas are created, authenticated, secured, managed, and removed by Android, the device manufacturer, an organization, or another third party. MinkLauncher provides a launcher view or gateway only. It does not create their security boundary, bypass authentication, or guarantee that an app or profile remains available.

Profile controls can be limited by Android version, device policy, organization policy, OEM implementation, or default-launcher status. Drawer visibility is not proof that data is encrypted, erased, backed up, or inaccessible through another authorized route.

Third-party apps and services

MinkLauncher can hand information or actions to installed apps, websites, Android system components, carriers, widget providers, notification providers, browsers, AI apps, and other services you select. Katoa Apps does not control and is not responsible for their availability, content, security, privacy practices, charges, data handling, output, or actions. Their own terms and privacy policies apply after a handoff.

Permissions and responsible use

Optional features require permissions, special access, or Android roles. Grant only the access you understand and want to use. You may revoke access through MinkLauncher or Android Settings, although doing so may disable related features. Notification access can power both transient Conversations and active media-session controls; MinkLauncher does not use it to record audio. You agree not to use MinkLauncher unlawfully, to access information you are not authorized to access, to impersonate another person, share another person's contact details without authorization, or send unlawful, abusive, deceptive, or unwanted communications.

Availability and changes

Features may differ by Android version, device, manufacturer, installed apps, carrier, locale, permission state, distribution channel, profile policy, and default-launcher status. Katoa Apps may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features and may update these terms. Material changes will be identified by a new effective date. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Open-source edition

Source code identified as MinkLauncher OpenSource is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. These Terms do not reduce rights granted by that license. If these Terms conflict with the Apache License regarding use, reproduction, modification, or distribution of licensed source code, the Apache License controls for that source code. These Terms continue to govern use of the official applications, website, services, and Katoa Apps or MinkLauncher names, logos, and other branding.

No warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MinkLauncher and the official project resources are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, security, compatibility, or that data loss will not occur. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Katoa Apps and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost communications, lost profits, loss of goodwill, device malfunction, service interruption, carrier charges, or the cost of substitute products or services, arising from or related to MinkLauncher, even if advised that such harm was possible.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Governing law and general terms

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, except where your local consumer law requires otherwise. If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain effective. These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement concerning the official app and project resources, except for rights separately granted under an open-source license.
